PV Policies

The current policy instruments and implementation mechanisms for the adoption of GC-BIPV are based on the following national energy development concepts.

  • National Energy Policy criteria on energy, especially the desire for the use of environmentally friendly, secure, indigenous primary energy in the long term, and the promotion of renewable energy,
  • The 9th Malaysia Plan projections for the promotion of Renewable Energy, including solar PV,
  • The Industrial Master Plan’s reference to the development of the PV industry in Malaysia,
  • The Five-Fuel Policy incorporating Renewable Energy (RE, including solar PV) as the fifth fuel source for power generation.

Policy aspects include the provision (and enhancement, where appropriate) of fiscal incentives to encourage the successful installation of BIPV systems in Malaysia during the MBIPV Project period, and the formulation of an institutional framework for its sustained development beyond the 9MP.
