Industry Missions

Dear MBIPV and industry stakeholders,

Following our strategy to develop the local industry interested to enter the PV business and to provide latest market and product information, MBIPV project will be organizing industry mission in 2009. The missions - subject to approval from PTM management - should lead to a better understanding of the PV technology and business. Further, the missions support exposure of the local industry to international PV business and act as door-opener to networks, contracts and/or just capacity building.

Stakeholders:  Local PV and other industry, universities, government organization (MIDA, MITI, MEWC, and others), and other stakeholders interested. 

Objectives of the missions:

  • To promote the image of MBIPV of the local stakeholders capabilities in the international PV market;
  • To gather information on the latest PV market, policy, technology and industry development activities;
  • To expose industry and policy participants to the latest technology in manufacturing and development in the PV industry and products;
  • To expose policy participants to PV technology, the booming PV market (with its dangers), and the development in policy, market and technology;
  • To identify new business opportunities and sources of technology in PV industry; and
  • To explore and facilitate business matchmaking, business opportunity meetings and technical collaborations between local and international PV companies, and attract FDI.

1.

Solarcon Singapore, 20-22 May 2009 (in conjunction with SEMICON)

Attractive event close to Malaysia -> less effort and low cost for good impact. The organizer expects around 200 exhibitors from global leading PV companies.

Potential manufacturers and companies interested to invest in PV, or establish manufacturing or become a service provider. Group size limited to max 15 pax.

Get latest market and product information during the event. Meet global PV players and EDB in Singapore for benchmarking PV development in SNG. Visit to SERIS and module test facility, and BCA ZEO building construction site. The mission can be a four to five day event.  

2.

Thailand, June/July 2009 (target benchmarking mission)

This mission helps to benchmark with the neighbour and learn from their experience in developing PV in terms of industry growth (manufacturing) and as power generator for energy security.

Invited Government and TNB officials (2 each), potential companies interested to start in PV manufacturing. Group size between 10 and 15 pax.

Visit PV manufacturers (NanoPV, Bangkok Solar) in Thailand to understand the manufacturing process and the requirements to enter this business. Visit to KMUTT and test facility, to ground-based PV power plant, than EGAT, and other Government agencies. 3-4 days mission.

24th EU PVSEC in Hamburg, 21-25 Sept 2009

World-largest PV conference and exhibition with many valuable side events. Every participant appreciated the environment as one-stop event to get your objectives met and the sufficient time given during meetings with PV companies. Absolutely worth the money for the value -> high impact.  

Potential companies interested to start in PV manufacturing, or as PVSP, investors, high-tech parks, MIDA (to be invited 2 pax). Group size limited to max 20 pax.

Get information of latest PV industry development, products and policy. Match-make, attract FDI, attend PV Industry Forum, have technical tour with CONERGY visit (most modern PV manufacturing facility in the world) and large-scale PV system and BIPV.


Malaysia can become in five to ten years a serious international player in the PV business provided that the industry and government committed to drive the PV industry which may follow with the introduction of a sustainable PV policy in Malaysia. A critical success factors is to follow the learning curve and learn from international examples. The missions serve this purpose and offer excellent opportunities for matchmaking, getting latest product and industry information, and to network.
