While 2008 has been a year of economic crisis for many countries and consolidation for businesses regardless of industries, 2009 is seen a year where Governments applied stimulus packages to revive the economies of their countries. Many industries believed that the valley of business cycle is starting to peak following these stimulus packages. In the PV industry, valleys are not necessary bad times. It is a time for innovative companies to expedite their R&D to release new PV products which are more efficient and cost-effective. It is also a time to separate the wheat from the chaff; the good companies from the bad and the committed from the non-committed ones. The 2nd National PV Conference (2009) will focus on drivers of PV markets. Key speakers include: Dr Hermann Scheer, a member of the German Parliamentarian and a believer that the political willpower is essential for renewable energies in any country to achieve meaningful breakthrough. A strong advocator and initiator of the successful feed-in tariff, the same approach is now being closely imitated by many other countries. Prof Dr Martin Green, world-renowned PV researcher in high efficiency solar cells and Executive Research Director from ARC Photovoltaics Centre of Excellence, University of New South Wales. In the conference, speakers from USA, the EU, Japan, Taiwan and China will share about national PV policies and directions for industry for 2010. * Printed copies of proceedings will not be distributed during the event. Proceedings will be uploaded to the website a week after the conference.
